Experiment's Objective: To study the relationship between Load and Extension (helical spring) by drawing a graph.
Description:
Hooke's Law states that the restoring force of a spring is directly proportional to a small displacement.
 
Apparatus:
Helical spring with a pointer, hanger, slotted weights, stand with clamp, scale, graph paper, and geometry box.
 
Procedure:

Precautions:

*Stand should be heavy and stable. *Take the reading after the pointer comes to rest. *For accuracy, use a scale engraved as mirror strip and remove parallax between the pointer and its image while taking reading. *Do not increase load beyond the elastic limit of the spring. *Scale should be vertical and pointer should not touch the scale. *Increase the weight on the hanger regularly.--
